Water Festival Freiburg presents

"A Plastic Ocean - The UnConference!" - May 16-19, 2018 (tbc)

The Water Festival Freiburg (WFF) is an initiative that has been started in 2016 by Change Management Consultant Henrik Langholf, Ocean Biologist and Free Diver Daniel Bichsel and the Project Manager Jörg Friedrich. The objective is to establish an innovation and cultural event as of 2018 in the Green City Freiburg, which brings together experts and organizations from diverse sectors and countries that are known for their contribution towards clean and healthy oceans. “Collective intelligence” will be stimulated through innovative methods in order to contribute to the solutions for one of our major global challenges!

Because “plastic” is one of the main pollution drivers for worlds rivers, lakes and oceans, the WFF team started in January 2017 a cooperation with the globally recognized "A Plastic Ocean” movie network, that produced an impressive documentary, which shows problems as well as solutions for this nearly overwhelming topic. We were happy to present the premiere for Germany of this maybe “most important movie of the year”, as the press titled, on January 20th here in Freiburg, in cooperation with Grünhof, a co-working space and incubator for innovative and sustainable start ups.

In March 2017, we have been invited to present the WFF at an event of the European Environment Foundation and could share the initiative with more than 100 laureates of environmental awards from all over the globe. The feedback was extremely motivating and our network expanded in an exciting way.

Now we are in the phase of planning our first main event in May 2018, addressing the partners and funding sources and are happy to hear about your ideas, contacts, support in our case. Thanks!
